Flames on Okinawa
December 22, 2022
Time: 22:00 JST
A third Shina invasion force strikes, this time at Naha, the main island in the Okinawa island chain. Despite heavy machine gun and artillery cutting down Shina soldiers as they land on the beach, they press forward. Here, the Nippon infantry are relatively inexperienced compared to the Shina invasion soldiers. In one division, they had only received a quarter of the training they needed before they were hauled out of their barracks and deployed to Okinawa.
The Shina invasion plan seems to operate as this: Seize the Nippon islands of Okinawa and Senkaku, surround Taiwan, and seize Taiwan itself. Shina is ignoring the main Nippon islands and not extending the war beyond Okinawa. This leaves some breathing room for Nippon--no matter the outcome, the home islands are safe from annexation.
But, they are not completely safe. As soon as the war began, Shina strategic bombers began making sorties against main cities on the homeland. So far damage has been limited, as the assigned fighter squadrons have driven them off. But the Nipponese have learned to use blackout curtains at night and take other such necessary precautions.
Meanwhile, in numerous locations across the seas, Nippon ships battle against the Shina surface fleets.
The warfront has widened. From Taiwan to Okinawa, the line is stretched, and the blood of a generation stains the soil of southern Nippon.
The battle for the Pacific is entering its crucible.
