Making this into a comp/casual issue is retarded. Both comps and casuals just want three lap races. The brand new idea, less than a month old, that intermission tracks are preferable for casuals, as if normal race tracks are a barrier to entry, is plain retarded. Mario Kart is a decades old franchise that is one of Nintendo's biggest hits. It's a worldwide cultural phenomenon to the point that blue shells are a meme and most people joke about them in reference to Mario Kart. 3-lap races were NEVER an issue and NEVER stopped Mario Kart becoming a smash hit. It is off the back of this formula that Mario Kart became what it is. The beauty of Mario Kart is that whether compfag or casual you can have a good time racing standard tracks. Casuals don't care about getting first anyway and are just happy with the item chaos, fun, and RNG wins. Compfags are happy to sweat it and place higher on average more consistently. It already had a perfected formula that broadly appealed to everyone. The whole idea that Mario Kart can be BOTWified and see a millionsfold sales increase to an exponentially bigger audience reeks of some stuffy old business exec's misunderstanding of video games as a singular product that work the same way every time.
