It's not just teenage girls, but Liberal women in general. There are loads of examples of them doing things they ought not to because they think they know better than their fathers. For example, there was a recent case out of the Netherlands where a single mother invited a Somali man to live in her home with her, and he got mad that she was paying more attention to her newborn than him so he stabbed her 200 times.

The transgressive nature of Liberalism, a particularly French invention might I add, causes untold suffering as people who don't know better, like Alicia, bring suffering not only upon themselves, but on those that do know better and still try to save them. There's only so many times you can warn people not to adopt a pitbull before you just resign yourself to letting them get torn to shreds by Cupcake. Alicia embodies that hubristic transgressiveness to a T, especially since she refuses to own up to her mistakes and instead choosing to escape into a fantasy setting where she didn't fuck up.

You absolutely can. It's the same source of misery - suicidal empathy. Sure, you can't blame Verso for wanting to be a hero, but his act of heroism only further destroyed his family. If he hadn't died in that fire, Aline wouldn't have been so distraught and gone into the painting to escape facing reality. Aline not going into the painting would've meant Renoir didn't get involved, and then Clea wouldn't have had to tard wrangle the lot of them.

The path to hell is paved with good intentions. While it is indeed noble for him to play the hero, it was certainly unwise for him to do so. And you can lay the suffering he caused in his death at his feet, though he's obviously less culpable than Alicia.
