Beskar was never a thing. All Mandalorians prior to that got shot and died just as easily as any other armored troopers in Star Wars. Lucas did not like the EU idea of regular metals being able to counter a lightsaber. Beskar not only retroactively makes no sense, but also it is just so stupid: cheapens lightsaber, cheapens blasters, makes Mandalorians literally invulnerable mary sues, and removes any and all tension from any action scene, since they literally cannot be killed. One of the worst additions ever.
