I like some of Genndy's high drama and high concept action scenes way more than what Lucas did in the proper prequels. He clearly knows the Jedi teachings, as demonstrated multiple times in the movies. It was also an exceptional situation, since it was war time, so they had to promote Jedi Knights and assign new padawans, and Yoda assigned him a Padawan to help Anakin just as much.

I've come to realize that Filoni is, for better or for worse, quite literally a modern day George Lucas, down to every decision made.
