The whole issue around Anakin having a student is that we never see him transition into a teacher, or have a time skip to establish that he has been a mentor for years. It was just dropped on him as soon as he became a Jedi. In my experience, education doesn't work like that. It would have been better if Anakin was her superior rather than her teacher. It would have made her role in the series more natural as she would have been a transitory character in Anakin's life.
