There were over 30 or so female superheroes published before Wonder Woman, depending on how you count. Some of the better-known ones include: Hawkgirl, Phantom Lady, Black Cat, Miss America, and Bulletgirl. There was even one called "Amazon the Mighty Woman." WW wasn't first, but she was more popular and more durable than most.
