Could have been a decent game but it's weighed down by a truckload of shit concepts. It killed the series for nearly 15 years, and they only dared try again with a Japanese-only mobile game that barely lasted a year before it too was killed off and the series has been dead since.

Imagine if Nintendo made a 40 hour Zelda game where the entire world is slowly corrupting, there is no way to stop or reverse it, using your sword or any of your items makes it corrupt faster, and once it goes past a threshold it's just game over and you have to start a new save file. Also, Link now talks and Zelda is literally a mute. That would be what this game is to the Zelda franchise.
