Exploriens and Ice Planet are really similar themes, honestly. I don't get why anyone would dog on one and love the other. I never had any Ice Planet sets as a kid so I don't really have nostalgia for them. It was all Exploriens and Insectoids as a very young kid playing with my brothers hand me downs, and Exo-Force, Bionicle and Star Wars when I was a pre teen.

I do agree that modern Lego is way more orientated to older fans now, which sucks. 6982 was so rich with play features, I can't think of any modern set that has stuff like magnets and color changing features. It's all just stud shooters and spring shooters these days, maybe a brick built mechanism to make a figure fall over.
