>Skipping right over Cream and the Chaotix
>Hell, skipping my waifu Blaze the cat from Sonic Rush
It's cool to get another new Sonic minifigure, but why Silver? Is it because it's Sonic 06's 20th anniversary (remember when Sonic kissed a human) or is it so we finally have the Sonic x DC cast (A DC wave featuring an exclusive Sonic minifigure in every set would be cool)?
Also why does Sonic need a car?
>>11488889Because Silver is the "third hedgehog". Definitely more deserving than the Chaotix - you could make a case for Cream since she was recently a playable character in Sonic Dream Team while Silver wasn't, but her fanbase are all pedos
IMO Blaze makes the most sense as the next new minifig if Silver's already in

Sorry to not (you) you, but thank you!
I stole someone's overall design, utilized the rear hinge hatch build from #6482 (I was so much struggling with that), and the overall dimensions / outline from the police helicopter.

>Definitely more deserving than the Chaotix - you could make a case for Cream since she was recently a playable character in Sonic Dream Team while Silver wasn't, but her fanbase are all pedosI think it's strange, Cream and the Chaotix are just as iconic, or more iconic than Silver. It's just confusing that every wave (minus Metal Sonic for some reason) goes in chronological order for minifigures, Genesis games to Sonic Adventure 2, I think thought they'd make sets based on games from 2002-2005 instead of skipping directly to 06.

>>11488866 (OP)Sadly superman underperforms in international markets, what a fucking shame. We finally get a good DC movie and it's doing ok. I still hope we get superman lego sets next year with 1 for supergirl.
>>11489005I-is that a SLOPE?? AHHH I CAN'T COMPREHEND THIS!?! THIS IS COMPLETELY DESTROYING MY IMAGINATION AHHHH!!!!!
>>11489022something DC that isn't a batmobile would be a nice change at this point. should have picked up the bat cave to proxy motivate them to make more sets. arkham will definitely be some dust collector half facade dollhouse shit like the originals..

>>11489063You can see how their strategy is different when now IP drops, since they put out stuff at $10-30 price points. It is clear that the August wave isn't for kids considering the $80-160 range
>>11489077Winter sets are always cheaper side than summer
Ninjago writer Chris Wyatt said the Hageman Brothers live action Ninjago film for Universal will be big budget and remake the pilot storyline.
Thoughts?
>>11489085The fight scenes were ass.
https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-marvel-brickverse-teased-2025-and-2026/
New Marvel theme plans are more conectivity between all sets, 2026 sets will play more into that angle but for now the corner street sets are kinda doing it.
>>11489099Is that Rebuild the Galaxy but Marvel?
>>11489104likely. last breath of capeslop hopefully.
>>11489104No, it's an initiative to say all sets they sell are part of a big universe. Like spiderverse, mcu, raimi, comics all that are part of the same universe and kids should combine them. We got a spiderverse apartments set and then 2 comics sets that connect to it.
Also, it seems we get Rivals sets next year...
>>11489077>It is clear that the August wave isn't for kids considering the $80-160 rangeExpensive kids' toys are still kids' toys
>>11489104It would be cool, but Marvel already has enough What If? comics and series, as well as alternate universes.
RTG was unique, because other than some weird comics from the 2000s, Star Wars never did what if stories.
>>11489113>No, it's an initiative to say all sets they sell are part of a big universe. Like spiderverse, mcu, raimi, comics all that are part of the same universe and kids should combine them. We got a spiderverse apartments set and then 2 comics sets that connect to it.Isn't that what kids normally do? As I kid, I mashed up Star Wars with Lego City because of the bonus levels in Lego Star Wars.
Lego is the only toyline I see where fans actively complain about the sets not being "toyetic" enough. Do you think people would still have this complaint even if licensed lines weren'g lego's main source of profit nowadays?
My Prime day sale got in. Honestly a very fun set, very nostalgic to make, reminded me of making the first Naboo fighter set on Christmas day. Got it for well under 10c a piece, and the figures are comfy.
Lots of useful and interesting parts for a Slop Wars set. My only complaints is the darksaber blade being a bar, and Mando missing his black cape.

>>11489063>BB8So we are gonna start getting Disney sloppa again.
>>11489152well yeah, Disney owns the franchise.
>>11489136It's hard to say. Licenseslop took over so long ago that the transition from blocky toyetic designs to AFOL trash has been mostly after Slop Wars' introduction.
>>11489145Faggot mousecuck.
He's still at it, isn't he?
>>11489145I don't like this rendition of the N1. It's way too big, and the cockpit isn't even sealed off from behind. It looks unfinished, and it's not just the kitbash look of the thing it's based on.
Any day now. It's gonna be EPIC
>>11489171Yeah the cockpit is the weakest part of the design. Moving it a stud forward and sealing it would do a lot for it I think.
The asymmetrical missing panels and exposed engines are cool, though. I dont think its too big considering minifig scale is whack
Why has no one ever tried building a 1:1 scale star destroyer?
>>11489194anon are u retarded
>>11489194I think they did an X wing.
>>11489099Sounds kinda kino, desu. I'm surprised they haven't really done this already. I just hope they're not overprice simple kits like the 3 spider-man modular kits thus far.

>>11489251because lego was trying to be lego instead of things as lego
like how before it was lego-licenceshit and now it's licenceshit-lego
>>11489256Even the licensed stuff was much more soul
The new rounded over detailed look of everything is so gay and makes all the sets cost more too
>>11489258star wars was pretty nice before fleshies, and even for a time after it was still alright

Murp

๐
>>11489279>>11489300This is the only good burp. My main problem with the other ones is the assymetry. When you combine a bunch of them the very specific repeated assymetries look awful(and trying to pile on smaller bricks to disguise and mix it up fails spectacularly and is unnecessary clutter)
In pic related it all blends seamlessly because it's all the same completely generic formation
Burp
md5: b5e9f2357e01dedcae0293a65a2c1533
๐
This one is still fairly balanced despite the assymetry. Now this
>>11489279 is awful because all the texture is focused to the right side
>>11488889Silver is popular but he's barely relevant in any storylines besides 06, so it actually makes sense to exploit a racing game to get him in.
>>11489279the larger specialized wall pieces were all good ideas
kept the part count down and added some quick and easy texture
does anyone actually like building up large rock walls composed of nothing but small bricks, slopes, and tiles?
And here's a mock up of how a good lurp would look like
When will Lego's real decline begin? When the millenial market moves on and there's no new nostalgic generation to take the reigns? Licenseshit can't carry Lego forever.
>>11489145I hope you're planning to replace the retarded Baby Sneed bubble with a proper astromech slot at some point.
>>11489320When 3d printing(and adding printed decals) becomes good enough you won't have to rely on a company to make your pieces
>>11489325doesn't that spell doom for all plastic toys?
>>11489323And go against the perfect design lego intended for the ship? I bet you "add on to" sets too.
>>11489320depends on what you mean
some would say in the late 90's - early 00's with the over abundance of large specialized parts and infantilized sets, 2004 with the grey colour swap, introduction of fleshies, and the recovery from near bankrupt, 2012 when disney took over star wars and put the kibosh on in-house space themes, or somewhere in the past decade where lego started catering hard to the adult market with huge part counts but noticeably smaller builds in an attempt for more 'realism'
i personally think disney getting influence over lego was the worst but the afol catering is also pretty shitty
>>11489325That won't happen. Younger people are less tech literate than even boomers and won't want to bother with 3D printing. The appeal LEGO has to normies now isn't in its value as a toy but as a brand. LEGO is a designer brand these days just like Gucci or Louis Vuitton so if it doesn't have the LEGO name on it, it's worthless.
>>11489323I like Glup Shitto, it and Andor are the only Disney star wars project that's worth watching
The URP bricks are fine when used right, sets like this where they clearly just are used to make the set look bigger and look awful from any angle beside forward is why they gained their reputation.
>>11489320It will probably continue to live on as a collector's item rather than a toy for children.
>>11489331>depends on what you meanI suppose I mean when does Lego's current high, which is massively inflated by a nostalgic adult market, dissipate? Lego was the only brand last year to actually gain profits in a shrinking toy market. Gen Z and Alpha don't care about Lego as much as millenials do. Lego has also, as you noted, lost its visual identity by focusing on realism, producing models that just so happen to be made out of Lego, rather than making Lego toys. They're not doing a good job at making future nostalgic consumers.
I'm not saying Lego will necessarily die this generation, but I see its current massive popularity dropping significantly
>>11489333>>11489340Bingo. Lego designers have already claimed they want to be seen as a luxury toy. The brand will increasingly focus on adults with disposable income because kids are a cheaper, and ever-shrinking market in physical toys. This year's $1,000 Death Star is only the beginning.
>>11489341Lego doesn't need nostalgic adults who grew up with Lego. There's a massive audience who simply buys 'Lego version of pop culture thing I like" without the need of rosy memories from their childhood.
>>11489341i give it another decade at the absolute most, if they lose the child market they're in for bad times in the future if the economy goes for a big dive
a good start would be to bring back affordable small and medium sets, like $7 - $30 so kids can afford them with their allowance or parents being more willing to buy their child something on a whim
i know there are some but nowhere near the amount from decades prior
imo a big reason why pirates, space, and castle themes were so fondly remembered is that they all had lots of small and medium sets that kids could get, with the large impressive sets being something to enviously look at in instructions and catalogues or get for their birthday/ christmas
nowadays some themes are almost entirely composed of $40+ sets, with the few under that being a simple vehicle that they've remade dozens of times
>>11489339no no, this is supposedly "soul"
>>11489194I'm working on a 1:1 Death Star at the moment but I need more men in order to finish it.
>>11489360Perhaps you can tell the emperor when he arrives
>>11489286If you don't have the Aluminum Falcon in your collection it mite b cool. Personally I already have the Falcon from a few years back so I'm not picking it up.

I should really rebuy it.
>>11489313>Silver is popularlmfao
>>11489390Fucking based. Love Exploriens so much, I put them nearly on par with Ice Planet. Never understood the hate. This thing has such a unique profile.
>>11489390>>11489369>>11489251How can anyone see the greatness of pre-licensed pre-adult Lego and still willingly buy modern Lego AFOL dust collector slop? It boggles the mind.
>>11489392Exploriens and Ice Planet are really similar themes, honestly. I don't get why anyone would dog on one and love the other. I never had any Ice Planet sets as a kid so I don't really have nostalgia for them. It was all Exploriens and Insectoids as a very young kid playing with my brothers hand me downs, and Exo-Force, Bionicle and Star Wars when I was a pre teen.
>>11489394I just like Lego, anon. That's why I'm in the Lego general.
I do agree that modern Lego is way more orientated to older fans now, which sucks. 6982 was so rich with play features, I can't think of any modern set that has stuff like magnets and color changing features. It's all just stud shooters and spring shooters these days, maybe a brick built mechanism to make a figure fall over.
>old Lego designers retire or die out
>bring on autistic faggots and women
>the toys suck now
I think speed champions is a great encapsulation of everything wrong with modern Lego. A six-stud wide car, ostensibly for children, 400+ pieces and and dozens of stickers for an abomination that doesn't even allow you to open the fucking doors.
>make kids product
>it doesn't sell
>change product to be aimed at manchildren with disposable income
>it sells gangbusters
>make more like that one
Its the designers fault, truly. Watershed moment was the UCS Falcon, its still in print all these years later because it still sells well.
>>11489420>manchildren with disposable incomeAnyone over the age of 18 who buys Lego is a manchild. Lets be honest with ourselves here, just because you don't buy disneyslop doesn't make you more mature.
>>11489420>>make kids product>>it doesn't sellthey still make kids products and they fucking suck. Compare this summer's MTT with the 2007 model. Or the godforsaken clone turbo tank. Yes, the designers fucking suck nowadays

>>11489629If it wasnโt so expensive yes. Unironically. That stupid fucking red republic gunship is an incredible design shape wise and size wise. It just needs aggressive correction.
>>11489543>no superman movie sets
>>11489640The kino minifigures, dragons and color palette distract people from the terrible set design of Fright Knights. I still recommend them because they are easy to add on to and fix but even the giant castle is just ugly outside of the tower.
Lego are fools for not making quality builds for classic themes, lost money. Meanwhile I'm building Rebrickable instructions and cheap (but good quality) BootLego bricks to make the ultimate Wolfpack fort for like half of what Lego would have charged. I needed like 4 replacement bricks (trap door hinge was shit and windows frames had no peg holes for the wooden shutters) but overall I'm not buying official Lego if I have the option of a set I like that's third party.
I dont have pics yet, but I just bought a BootLego Pirate set for $26 on Amazon last week and just finished it yesterday. Quality of bricks was even better than Lego, no injection mold spots and every brick clicked in real good, arguably stronger snap than Lego. Lots of nice metallic parts too. Only draw back was zero prints and a sticker sheet, but the sticker quality was good. It came with a lightbrick that was just a garbage string of LEDs that did nothing for the set, but whatever. Its a super fun playable set that would have been $75 if Lego just for the brand printed on the studs and including 3 minifigures the BootLego didn't. Overall I say if you dont find the soul in modern stuff, buy old sets or build new MOCs or ideas that fit what you want. Or go to third party brands that still fulfill those types of builds. There's no real reason to have brand loyalty beyond liking a thing.

you KNOW some designer wanted light-blue shutters on those windows. good job for the guy in the room that said "c'mon... we just... can't. that's too much."

>>11489652We can do that. No promises you or Pippen will enjoy the ride, and it might take a couple weeks.
>>11490069The shutters don't even open and close. For $300 I'd expect motorised shutters that suck my dick and swallow.
>>11490238You fucking know thereโs going to be a โmovie accurateโ shitter.
>>11490209unironically i think it would look better with urps rather than the slopes
the lack of studs showing is a major reason why nulego looks worse than old lego despite being more 'detailed'
>>11490275AFOLs call themselves fans of LEGO yet they hate studs showing, which is literally what LEGO is all about
Curious.
>>11490069After spending almost $400 last year on the DnD set and cmf line it's kind of comforting that everything that comes out lately is so unappealing so my wallet can rest. There's like zero temptation to even considering buy any of this

>>11490401I had the Dino 2010 version of that one, for some reason I really liked the cage from that one specifically. No clue why. Made use of it separate from the set itself for ages afterwards.
>>11490401>on your shelf No I was a child when I had these I just distinctly remember the helicopter in particular falling apart the second I tried to pick it up and me not rebuilding it ever. I used the parts to make other stuff. Which I mean itโs Lego. So thatโs what itโs for but that helicopter was too big for its own good. And the humvee is fucking huge too. But not as fragile as the helicopter. I did like that they werenโt concerned with scale though. And Balaclava guy was probably the coolest minifigure head ever

SMB3 airship is going to be great in my Lego kingdom.
For real though those electronic Mario things are haunting
>launched a month after the rest of the theme
>modified color scheme
>new magnet play feature
>set number next in sequence from flagship set of original wave
Was this some sort of aborted attempt at a second wave of Aqua Raiders?
>>11489755Agreed. My most expensive bootlego purchase was so I could build this MOC. I also bought 4 bootleg copies of the recently retired 3 in 1 castle since there's a bazillion MOCs for that one.
>>11490550Wait they were still using that joint system and magnet system in 2007? I thought that went extinct in the 90s
>>11489755Blessed post fuck TLG
>>11490599>joint system and magnet system in 2007?That joint system was made in 99, it first appeared in themes like rock raders and star wars. I think the last theme to really use those magnets was insectoids in 98 but I think they made a handful of appearances still as an occasional play function.
It's time to settle this, once and for all
Trans neon green or trans neon orange?
>>11490601Oh. Yeah looking closer at the joint system Iโm getting it confused with the older one from the 90s underwater themes that also used a similar magnet.
>>11490530Didnโt that come out like 3 years ago?
>>11490614Thatโs a bot from a few years ago that someone forgot to turn off. Donโt mind him.
>>11490610neon green for structure/ windows, neon orange for light/ energy
>>11490599That Aqua Raiders sub was the last set to ever use the classic magnets and the only non-train set to use it since the original UCS Star Destroyer from 2002. Really bizarre choice, makes you wonder if they were just trying to clear out magnet inventory before retiring the part
Anyone have any idea how these are supposed to go together? I would have thought the instruction booklet would have told you how to link two sections together but it doesn't say shit and I can't for the life of find a youtube tutorial where someone links two sections together.
>>11490610Why choose? Both are peak.
Lego Pokemon reveal at SDCC. Be ready.
When I was a child, I used to have 2 favorite "characters" I made out of minifigs. One had a robot head and one to two of those hollow dome pieces I stuck on the dude's head which made him able to fly. The second one was just a bunch of minifigure faces all stacked up on each other.
What the fuck was wrong with me?
>>11490646You were too young to know what "cringe" meant and therefore were able to exercise your youthful creativity without restraint or self-consciousness. You Played Well.
With so many LEGO themes and sets out there, and with more of them retiring faster than ever, how do you decide which ones are worth buying when you're on a budget? Do you set a monthly limit on how many sets you buy or how much you spend?
>>11490069Without a license with exclusive prints or minifigures, a Lego set is just an overpriced partspack. You could just get cheaper knock-off bricks of the same quality, or just an entire alt-brand set, and order the generic minifigs from Bricklink.
>>11490666I only buy pre 2000s sets anymore, usually try to part out smaller builds thrn just buy minifigs separately.
>>11489513I've said this before and I'll say it again. Early technic was pure SOUL. The cheaper sets were all about introducing kids and teenagers to gears and other simple machines in a fun and accessible way, with the more expensive sets showing you how to integrate motors to your machines. It was literally peak as an educational toy.
People bitch about regular Lego sets declining, but you do not understand just how much worse technic has gotten. It's now almost entirely overpriced $200-500 vehicles that are designed as much as possible to remove studs and technic holes. JUST BUY A NICE PLASTIC MODEL CAR OR A REMOTE CONTROLLED VEHICLE YOU FUCKING FAGGOTS.
>>11490666>how do you decide which ones are worth buyingNone of them are, Satan. It's unironically cheaper to buy used retired sets now. I just bought (mostly complete) picrel sets for a bit less than the price of Rivendell, which the guy said he wanted to buy with the money.
Maybe I'll get the occasional PaB order to get new minifig/special parts for less than Bricklink prices. Second hand bulk provides plenty of basic bricks and common parts with better quality than new sets. But new sets these days are just not worth it.
>got intoxicated and went through my box of old Lego Magazines and shit
>found a Galidor poster
>start watching it as a joke
>look in to how much it would cost to just collect the entire line
>some random Glup Shittos cost hundreds now for no reason
Well so much for that, might still get the normal cheap ones as a joke since we have tons of Legos set up in the living room anyways. Also had no idea pic related existed until today. But ofc most listings I found it isn't even working.
>>11490694Only boomer crap is cheap. Peak zoomer era themes from 2005 to 2017 sell for gold
>>11490700I fucking wish. I see 80s and 90s sets below 200 pieces sell for $50 or so.
>>11490671Technic maxifigs era was peak
>>11490694Someday I'd like to own Fort Legoredo. It's one of those sets I always wanted as a kid but never got, and now it doesn't really fit into any of my displays, but, hell, it's just cool.
>>11490695He costs so much almost entirely due to his name (kek), basically heโs a holy artefact now for frogposters
>>11490720You should buy it sooner than Someday, because the price will only go up. Remember it's still cheaper than some licenceslop dust collector.
