>Her fumbling a far more difficult situation where Suletta wasn't giving the kinds of signs she hoped for isn't at all surprising.
I don't particularly care about arguing whether something is surprising or not (in fact, I literally said one of the betrayal's main issues is how predictable and unsurprising the whole conflict and its resolution was). Ultimately, people can argue about whether or not something works or makes sense until the cows come home because, among other things, suspension of disbelief is very subjective. I care more about whether a development leads the narrative in a more interesting or satisfying direction, which, for reasons that I laid out, I don't think the betrayal does.
To go at it from a more meta perspective, when the first season of your two season show is built almost exclusively on the foundation of your two leads growing closer as they learn to work through a bunch of different conflicts together, you better have a good and interesting reason to then split them up for the majority of the 2nd season and execute it well. None of this is helped by the other issues season 2 has going on.
