I usually play this type of games with no real route in my mind i just make decisons based on what i or my character would do in these sort of scenarios and see what happens
Afterwards i go check out a guide and get all the other endings and stuff i missed out on
Following a guide to get a specific route on the first playthrough is kinda lame and spoils to much of the game for me
