I'm not defending Steams monopoly in the sense that I want laws that would uphold it. I want a better service, not making Steam worse to make the competition have a chance, because they are so far behind.

Reminder that Valve is still a 100% private owned company, it is not on stock exchange, it is not beholden to random investors. This is why they can be balsy and do whatever they want. This is based by definition, you are just coping, seething, stewing, etc.
