KC is still pretty big in Japan but not in the traditional way, specially since the latest anime project bombed and the west moved on to other ips for the most part. The browser game is still around and the arcade game might be on its twilight days but the series still gets all sort of collaborations with museums and fashion brands, even stage shows (The girl you see in the op of this thread debuted in a stage show) which all make plenty of money apparently.
