I've been working my way through a SL1 run in Dark Souls because I enjoy suffering. I spent a good bit last night farming green titanite in Blighttown so I could ascend one of my clubs to Divine, then I cheesed Ceaseless Discharge for the bigger fire ember in the Demon Ruins before heading down into the shithole Catacombs and eventually getting to Vamos. Now I've got a +8 fire weapon that I'll hopefully be able to use to make O&S tolerable. I'm doing good damage especially considering my level. But after that comes the real shitshow in the 4 Kings so we'll see how that goes.

Thanks! I do gotta admit though I got thrashed pretty handily in CvS when I got there in the bracket. My team is usually C-Groove Ken/Ryo/Dictator, the first two characters are fun to play but kinda jobbers. Dictator plays like his Super Turbo incarnation, so I was getting a lot of mileage out of knocking the opponent down and going for stomp mixups. Scissor kicks are also pretty safe and obnoxious for blockstring pressure. It cleans up on casual players, but once I had to play a Sagat/Cammy/Blanka team I got laid out pretty hard kek!

There's no official answer to that (abyssal lore is very vague aside from some of them being sunken ships) but one of the trailers for KC Arcade shows an abyssal sitting at the bottom of the ocean looking all lonely iirc so maybe the abyss is more of an empty wasteland rather than a military base.
I do like to think that they do have some bases but the distance between them is long, with most of the abyss being a very dangerous place filled with deep sea creatures the abyssal girls either tame or hunt to use as equipment.

Based. Girls’ Frontline kinda copied that and a lot more from Kancolle. GFL has an enemy faction called Sangvis Ferri which are basically Abyssals. You know, nameless grunts, pale skin, emotionless expressions, black cybernetic parts shrouding their whole body. It also has a similar gacha system where you throw in four different kinds of resources and get a gun girl in return. The “combat” is also basically Kancolle too, you know, sending out a squad of gun girls to take nodes on a map and battle with enemy squads. It even has night battles. Not trying to shill the gacha or anything, but I just find it interesting how Kancolle sort of inspired many other gachas. GFL is basically KC but with guns instead of ships. I imagine Azur Lane also plays pretty similarly.
Also, my wife UMP45 was originally a Sangvis Ferri model herself, but defied her programming and became one of the good guys.

Out of curiosity, I checked out 45’s page in the official artbook and, yes, Infukun/ZAGALA not only designed a great deal of Girls’ Frontline characters but also was the one who designed UMP45. I think he also created her personality as well, then left it up to the others to write her into the story. For all intents and purposes, he was the one who originally created her. Of course, 45 and the franchise as a whole have changed a lot since GFL(1) was first released in China years ago. I don’t think Infukun is even involved with GFL anymore. But it’s nice to find out where she was first created. And the fact he was also huge Kancolle fan is great to know. I also always loved Kancolle and the anime and movie are some of my favorite pieces of anime, even though everyone found them both pretty mediocre. Also, in 45’s page, Infukun wrote the following:
