Lego owns Bricklink, and the conspiracy theory says they hustle pieces out of the Mexico factor themselves, as invisible random vendors.
you get excited, and thankful even, that you can score the one Gulp Shitto for "only" $75!!! far better than a full $1000!
but you still spent $75 (or more) on a little plastic figure. they also sell those in boxes for $5 each
the only reason this Death Star doesn't have 50 Stormtroopers is to maintain the illusion that the minifigs are worth more than the rest of the plastic.
