Plastic gold. When will it stop?
The first mass produced $1000(ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS) Lego set. Will this set the stage to become the new normal? Is this the future of toys?
What's the most money you ever paid(or would be willing to pay) for a toy?

Where have you been anon of course toys are going to keep getting more and more expensive. I don't really understand the sudden outrage over this desu I mean they've been doing sets from $700-900 which was already unreasonable. For those willing to pay those prices, what’s a couple hundred more?

You're the reason why rent is higher than ever. It's a fucking toy, if I wanted to pay 1k for something I'd buy a luxury watch. notice how you compare it to rent, a necessity. you expose your consumerist brainrot, you treat it as an inevitability that you WILL buy it sooner or later, which is why the price burns you up so much. You KNOW you'll buy it, no matter the price, so you get angry over how much money you're going to lose. Zero impulse control, like a trained seal.
Meanwhile, I'm not gonna buy it. so it can cost a thousand dollars or a hundred-thousand and it makes no difference, because precisely zero of it will be coming out of my wallet regardless.

He's an EXTREMELY important character who some of you REAL fans might remember made a very small, one panel appearance in the original Marvel comics run. He was responsible for picking out the color of Emperor Palpatine's chair! Can you even imagine watching episode VI with seeing emperor Palpatine's iconic chair!? No but in all seriousness this guy is probably gonna go for like $200 on bricklink....

It's hilarious how badly they're cheaping out on the figs in a 1000 dollar set. I'm not even the kind of person who spazzes out about dumb shit like waistskirts and dual-molded legs (personally I think those legs usually look stupid) but I'm completely unimpressed by the quantity and selection of figs. The set has what, 38 figures? Really not a lot when you consider the overall price. Considering how all-out this set should be, a couple extra pieces of plastic shouldn't be much to ask for. There should've been enough troopers and officers to fill out the landing pad. And there should've been several of those glub shitto imperial advisors rather than just one. This thing really should be packed to the gills with content.

congrats, Lego.
you have successfully discovered how to sell tiny plastic figures for HUNDREDS of dollars each.

Lego owns Bricklink, and the conspiracy theory says they hustle pieces out of the Mexico factor themselves, as invisible random vendors.

you get excited, and thankful even, that you can score the one Gulp Shitto for "only" $75!!! far better than a full $1000!

but you still spent $75 (or more) on a little plastic figure. they also sell those in boxes for $5 each

the only reason this Death Star doesn't have 50 Stormtroopers is to maintain the illusion that the minifigs are worth more than the rest of the plastic.

I paid around $620 for this 1:12 model by Kyosho back in February. But you must consider that I paid for it in our local currency (RUB), if you convert right now it would be ~$760.

And there's that Amalgam 1:8 Countach out there that would cost around $20k. Gotta work hard I guess.

Would like to like some transparency on the cost of production.
Oh, so If you stop selling a toy for 20 dollars and now you sell it for 40, is because production cost is that much higher?
or you just want a bigger profit because some people are willing to pay?

From the way the officers reacting to Vader's present-

An unwanted guest from the emperor that is not on official emperor business on the death star

It's very unlikely that DS1 would have a chamber especially for Vader
DS1 is takrin' operation

Personally speaking I really think they should skip all the non DS1 stuff so they can build the set into a proper half sphere and have the diorama being bigger

There is no reason to have the emperor's room when that size of space should be the brief room and the hanger not come with a simple falcon

The toxic popularity of pokemon is going to consume a large portion of legos production and distribution time.
All other sets will suffers.
Everything will only be available on the secondary market for 2x msrp after a while.
The money bros will set their sights on lego with Pokemon but will soon migrate to all lego.
Its about to get really really bad, buy your sets now, they will be forever out of your price range in a few short months.
