Alos the end of the cylinder had to ground down to fit in the recess of the ring because it came out a bit over 5 inches when finished. That little recess in the bottom of the ring was the entire attaching point of the cylinder to the ring, and that was joined with a hand-applied layer of glue. The thin flanges around the ring were completely sheered off in the wreckage.
