While having the worst possible weather each juhannus no matter what is a running meme in this country, I quite like the stereotypical juhannus weather. Especially since the collective spirit is that people WILL have their juhannus, come rain or shine, so back when we had those entire family-celebrations at one cousins lakeside cabin, we were making bbq food in heavy rain and eating outdoors under makeshift rain shelters, pretending it was a sunny summer day, and honestly eating bbq food in the rain and wind at a stormy lake is awesome and SOVL. And being kinda cold, wet and chilly makes things like sauna and huddling inside a rustic cabin etc just more comfy in general. And judging by the adults behavior, alcohol just that much more tasty.

So yeah, I think that anyone who wants to experience the true spirit of juhannus needs to experience the kind of juhannus that is considered the worst of them all.

Misery is just an extra spice to make things just so much more better, than just simply bbq food outdoors on a sunny day
