Does anyone else miss when wack niggas playing SF used to look retarded? Weird question, I know, but let me explain. If you watch someone bad play SF4, they'd be dropping every combo and they wouldn't know any setplay. If you watch someone bad play SFV, they would mash uselessly in neutral, not being able to confirm/convert pokes or whiff punish at all. But, when you watch bad players in SF6, the stuff they're doing still seems pretty valid. Like, how can you tell that a motherfucker hitting the fuck out of c.MK Drive Rush and then going for tick throws is a scrub? He's not reacting to a single DI or whatever, but for 70% of the match, his neutral looks solid even though he doesn't know what the fuck he's really doing. The floor for skill expression is too high now, is what I'm trying to say.

It's funny because Zhen was also a fresh-faced newcomer who had an extremely deep run in Capcom Cup all of a sudden as a nobody, and yet you really didn't see many people doubt his skills the way you see people talk shit and diminish the efforts of the literal CHILDREN drive rushing like apes with Ryu in SF6. It's almost like SFV was a better designed game that made it CLEAR which player was the best and deserved to win, instead of being a kookily ass Mickey Mouse Mario Party minigame scramble fest where you turn green and grab a lot while hoping for the best.
