From what I've seen, it's predefined combos based on meter availability. What is absurd is that those combos can do hit confirms that are not possible for Classic players, like confirming a TC if the first hit is a block, but the 2nd one lands, like Guile autocombos.

You spam Assist button + button and the AI decides on every button. I'm not a Modern player, was just looking it up. So Modern Guile can do Assist+Medium. Press it three times and Guile will do 2MP TC into SA1 Heavy. Press it four and it'll do an OD FK. If opponent blocks both hits, nothing happens. Just two blocked hits.

That's not the norm though. Majority of the medium and heavy auto combos are unsafe on block or if they are safe, they needlessly burn OD meter on the last hit. And keep in mind, Guile's medium target combo is like -6 on block so the fact that Tyler1 gets away pressing after it's blocked it just due to the low level of players he's fighting. He should be getting counter hit out of his boots for mashing after that.

It's free form, you can let the auto combo play out it's route or take over and modify it with your own inputs. For example if tyler had a brain, he would manually override the auto combo route when he was on low on meter and do his own inputted flash kick to avoid a burn out situation.

This is actually retarded. I've lost and won plenty of games because I either ended my string with an unsafe option on block, or because my opponent did the same against me. It's one thing for the game to do the combos for you, it's another thing for the game to also hold your hand and stop you from autopiloting when it isn't safe to do so.

The issue with modern is actually how it functions in neutral and the unnatural buff it gives to reaction times.
No one ever really complains about modern correctly because they can't articulate why it feels so shit to play against.
Sure its kind of dumb that people like Tyler can literally mash their way up the ranks without understanding even basic shit about the game, but the real issue is that its giving him a genuinely tangible buff to his reactions that give him an advantage over classic players that already need to deal with the risk of dropping combos.

Thanks to modern controls, he never puts himself at risk of a counterhit while doing the input for his moves, he never has to take the time to actually do these inputs and gets faster reactions than what is possible with classic.

Its arguably less of an issue with characters like Guile where both modern and classic need to do the charge, he just gets to skip the forward/up inputs and ideally you would be pressing the punch/kick at the same time as pressing the final direction of a charge anyway.
But for Supers it does make a big difference, and one of his favourite gimmicks is doing Level 1 on reaction to shit.

So not only is he mashing buttons instead of actually hitconfirming into his combos, but he gets babymode buffs to his reactions that give him a mechanical advantage.
I don't hate Tyler for this specifically, but I think its an issue with how modern is designed overall.

I don't really care that he doesn't need to physically do the inputs, but I think its fucking dumb that modern not only does it automatically, but it does it faster than possible through classic.
You take a modern and classic player of equal skill, they both react to the same situation on the exact same frame, the classic player needs to physically input the move which takes a minimum of 1f per direction, but more realistically they're spending 2-3f per direction if not more, while modern starts the move frame 1.

Which he actually shouldn't be doing for Modern Guile. The strat is to zone with modern light boom because the travel speed to move to down-back from back + SP is faster than moving to down-back from forward + button. This allows the Guile player to get charge for flashkick quicker. Basically Modern gives Guile what I call an "air-tight" boom to flash kick/st.mk game.

The Modern version of sonic blade is also better in fireball wars than doing it manually because it's just one button, Modern Guile actually outzones Classic Guile because of it.

It's very rare for a medium auto combo to be safe on block without no penalty to meter. Actually, if i'm not mistaken, Modern Guile is the only case in the entire game of this being the case. For every other character their medium auto combo is either full punish when blocked or it's safe at the cost of eating drive bar.

The person itt framing Modern Guile medium assist as the norm is being intentionally bad faith and idk why. You can lie about it but it's not like ppl can't go check this out in training mode.
