It obviously degraded as time went on. Much like SG1 did. It's just that trek has a much longer timeline (and was more culturally relevant) and so was degraded further and harder.
If they revived SG1 today it would be pozzed as fuck and in 10 years people would be saying "Why would you want to watch SG1? That show is full of kikes and commies!"
