It's weird that these mutants are called yokai, which In japanese and chinese mean fairy, spirit or demon. But later it's revealed that they were just mutated by ooze. They're not truly supernatural creatures. The turtles are just mutants who call themselves yokai and they can't even shapeshift into humans.
