it really just boils down to how wabi sabi you are or aren't. to some people oil and grease stained jeans covered in sashiko patches are a feature not a bug. for others its atrocious, or doesn't fit their wardrobe/vibe.
here's the jeans that the redditor spilled battery acid down the leg the first day he wore them. i would wear these if they weren't millenial taper jeans.
personally i only ever wore jap denim on the job when i was doing stuff like interior jobs, carpentry, roofing and other stuff that didn't involve paint chemicals etc. but now days i probably wouldn't care. my beaters that i used to paint in wound up looking pretty sweet in the long run.
