Something that can be easily done with a remembrance system that doesn't require farming a consumable item. Or even better, actual levels that you can replay at anytime. Nioh does this, so we've got an example in an existing game.

As I pointed out, Bonfire Ascetics are a band aid to a world system that fucks itself, but it's also an obsolete system seeing as Fromsoft introduced their remembrance system.
