If I can add onto your point I think both Award shows are so horrifically fucked purely because voters don't need to have played / watched the thing to give an opinion. The Oscars just made it a rule after nearly a century of doing it, and the Game Awards doesn't even consider it. There are votes from institutions and judges that are based purely on 'vibes' and what their outlet said even if they weren't the ones at the outlet to say it. The Gamer's Choice votes are always so dog shit because gamers vote for the most boring shit as the best game ever like last year's so they're not much better.
