it's not outright paid for but the issue is that the voting body is still compromised in many ways. First, they're all faggots so they'll obviously be more lenient with faggoty stuff. Second, they're journos, influencers, and podcasters aka the new access media so they'll always want to stand next to celebrities and bigwigs. But the third and most important issue that compromises them is the fact that they aren't actual gamers. They're failed wannabe writers like Jacob Geller, Chris Stuckmann tier retards like skillup, low iq mongrels like tamoor hussain.
These people are all desperate to feel like they're legitimate, serious grownups engaged in a real artistic endeavor, yet none of them will do something like play all of expedition 33 on expert the whole way through, really evaluate every aspect of the game, and realize that the writing is a horribly amateurishly paced and botched telling of a story that isn't half as novel as the writers seem to think it is (fucking inception of all films made nearly a billion dollars by packaging the same "artists getting lost in their art to cope with loss" narrative for mass audiences like 15 years ago) and the gameplay is the most underbaked dogshit imaginable, it's as unhinged to call E33 an "innovation" for turn based games as it was to call the first Last of Us game an "innovation" for stealth games. They can't evaluate the game on the basis of the fact that NOTHING in the main quest, even on expert, pushes you to engage with lumina or team synergies and instead focuses only on making you learn parry or dodge timings. In a few years, no E33 fan will remember a single main quest encounter for anything interesting it did with TURN BASED MECHANICS, the only things they'll remember will be parry strings for combos. They'll talk about E33's combat the way they talk about souls combat. But the TGA voters don't care about this.
