My go to method for playing most DS games these days is on Nintendo's Wii U Virtual Console DS emulator. It doesn't have perfectly compatibility with the entire library, but for the games it does support having the Wii U gamepad be the bottom screen and your TV be the top screen is infinitely better than playing on an actual DS. You get all the precision of the DS's touch screen without having to play on a postage stamp sized display.
