So how is this any better than using random cracked windows ISOs and just never letting it update and having sane security practices?
At least with windows I can save a bunch of .exe-s for every software, driver version, etc I might want in the future and worst case I run it in a VM, maybe even fully offline.
With linux everything is so fucking internet dependent it's unreal and as you say there are corpos out there actively trying to ruin everything.
