Wow worked because it was basic, and easy to get. GW2 works because each class is different while not being forced on a role like only healer or only tank; Plus the weapon changing the main skills makes it even more unique: Its not just class, but class PLUS weapon choice.
Other mmos are either really basic, or clusterfuck of classes/speccs.
