I bought a 58$ dac with optical input
works like a charm, and makes some use of the optical output on my pc, I also split it to active speakers which take optical as well, so switching between my headphones and speakers is simply done by turning the speakers or dac on or off, love how it just works
I don't see how its worth sacrificing a precious pcie slot or usb interface when optical exists
