it's hard to imagine a human immortal being as stoic as Frieren is. her entire view of life must be that death, for her, is exceedingly unlikely, not only because she's biologically immune to aging, but she's also extremely powerful as a mage. that's the only way to explain her lassitude. a human would probably go crazy spinning the wheels for five centuries; they'd probably kill themselves from boredom and despair. a human immortal would want to do things; even a rise to power and crushing fall into ruin is more interesting than a life of simple solitude. humans are also social creatures, lack of social outlets is obviously bad for mental health.
the story isn't really about that stuff and only glosses over it in one episode. it's really about this strange little inscrutable creature and her adventures with her youthful charges, themselves no slouches.
