It was comfy when they were just traveling and doing little tasks for people. The exam arc is meh.
My main problem with Frieren is that it feels like it doesn't engage with it's main gimmick. We're supposed to be dealing with an elf that's gonna live for thousands of years and watch time pass her by but instead we're zoomed in on a couple of years.

Frierens theme is elves being so long lived that they unconsciously detach themselves from relationships because what's the point if they are gonna die in the equivalent of a month or too. We are at the point of the story that it took frieren YEARS to realize she felt something for Himmel and she should have spent more time with him. She speed ran the demon king killing quest without enjoying the journey. Now she's doing that. And the anime reflects that. If they go into that with Serie that'll fix some of the problem I have with the series. That's closer to what I was expecting out of it. And I don't mind them showing Frieren slowing down a bit to get to know humans, but at the current rate it'd be like 10 more seasons before Fern even starts to noticeably get older. We jumped from when she was like 6 to when she was 18 and now we're going one month at a time. I'd just like to see time pass a little quicker so we get some conflict between Frieren learning to get to know humans and coping with how fast they die compared to her.
