Everquest 2 is what I think of when it comes to races. On paper, the races are great and they end up feeling different with special racial abilities they get when they grow up. It also feels unabashedly mid-2000s fantasy. Some of them are even unironically ugly without even a 'pretty' female counterpart. It's been a little tainted over the years by newer additions and being just as old as WoW. Lore seems fine, but the monetization can suck.
I don't know if there's any MMO that has both decent gameplay and cool races. Most seem hellbent on just having humans.
