You can buy one of these for $800 on Amazon and see low orbit satellites. They do not have balloons tied to them. You can literally look at them. How are they staying up there? For a lot more you can see geosynchronous satellites. Did you parents never take you to a star gazing event? Church group? School function? Boy Scouts?
