Québec had an opportunity in the 18th century, an opportunity in the 19th century, and two referendums in the 20th century and never returned to France. The French, in their own words, gave up just "a few acres of snow" in favour of keeping the island of Guadalupe in 1763. It's never happening and no one in Québec wants to be a colonial possession of France.
