This makes me think of Tom Peyer's Penultiman, who is essentially Superman with a massive inferiority complex because whilst he's so far beyond us normal humans, he's actually from the future where humans have evolved to the final stage of evolution, and he's the *second last* stage and so essentially seen as a caveman there.
