Story got oversimplified into generic Shonen from a morally gray conflict between Capitano's cold and calculated plan to end the war and save the world at any cost vs. Mavuika's extremely convoluted and flawed idealistic plan to save Natlan's culture and history at the expense of very likely failing and dooming all of Teyvat.
Dragon technology feels out of place unlike the advanced tech we saw before because it doesn't integrate well with Natlanese culture. These people have artisans who can work on and even replicate phlogiston technology and yet they live in mud huts surrounded by modern aesthetics of 8bit gamershit and hot topic clothes. Natlanegros lose their shit when one of them builds jetpacks (and claims they're from Fontaine) and buy all of them up even though they should easily be fucking Wakanda given that their own people can make all this shit.
Dawei took the camera meme to seriously so now in Natlan all the locals have to glaze Traveler at all times.
Meanwhile the entire story is actually driven by Mavuika and traveler is just the baby she carts around in a baby stroller. Mavuika herself is always perfect, always right, always succeeds and never ever faces any real adversity. Even her "tragic backstory" wehich is barely even tragic by the standards of what the other Archons go through is something she can drop at a moments notice because ironically the human Archon is the least human of them all.
