The movie overall was good but I thought the ending was trash. He finally found people (aliens) that accept him and made a genuine friendship with the velvet worm child but then his aunt looks at him like :( and that makes him throw all his ambitions and his new friend away? We barely saw any of the aunt so I could t develop sympathy towards her, and the black kid was an asshole to Elio for letting his buddy beat the crap out of him. Also what would Elio do about all the kids that his clone befriended? What other shit did he rope Elio into before dying?
It really should've ended with the aunt letting him go because she knows he's found someplace where he feels he belongs and then him being able to keep in contact with her somehow. I know that's not realistic but fuck it it's a disney movie, none of their shit is super realistic.
