Runaan is her adoptive gay father who took her after her real parents left her behind to go on dragon egg guard duty.
She hates them because she thought that ,after abandoning her, they also run away from their post when Viren came to destroy the egg.
We then learn later that they were actually imprisoned by Viren just like it happened with also Runaan.
In season 6 then she gets the chance to release two of the three person's trapped and decide to release Runaan since her real parents would still be togheter if they passed away togheter while Runaan had his husband waiting for him.
Still seeing how her real parents didn't give a shit about her and how they didn't even react to meet her again after more than 10 years I think that it was the better decision to let them die
