I don't think there's any actual love or tenderness in Charmuro, especially from Amuro who sees Char as an insane enigmatic ideologue and simultaneously the only other pilot in the Earth Sphere who's a threat worthy of respect. And Char's on so many layers of mental illness that he's his own enemy half the time and Amuro is the only person he's ever met able to give him the validation he craves, the ideal Newtype and yet the ideal enemy.
