I've been drawing "seriously" for about 20+ years but I'd argue I really only rose above the absolute abysmal layer of skill maybe 4 or 5 years ago and really started getting comfy in the last 18 months. fanart is a good way to get your sea legs but I feel far more rewarded pursuing my own ideas
