What's a good way to remove backgrounds from images? The wand tool always leaves a thin outline that's an absolute tedious bitch to clean up and erase out, and I would be genuinely grateful if I could learn a technique or method that could save me some time.

That's how I started! Just doodling in an old notebook leftover from high school with an equally old mechanical pencil. I spent a while doing figure studies and line and cube drills. It takes a while and a lot of willpower to get past the initial hurdles without quitting but give yourself months of drawing every day (taking breaks every now and then) and you'll be able to control the right muscles to get things down on paper.

Everyone’s methods are different. The cheapest way is to use any papers (hell, even cardboard) and anything that can write. This doesn’t have to be an expensive hobby. If you like traveling and drawing whenever inspiration strikes, get one of those small sketchbooks.
I started out mimicking Sonic, JSR, and fashion magazines, but most of the time I just draw whatever comes to my head. Nudity came way, wayyy later (because I wanted to figure out how drape clothing properly).
My best pieces of advice is to start a Pinterest board, start collecting what you think looks cool and take the pieces of what you like from other artists (you like the way this guy draw eye, you like this dude’s method of drawing bodies) over time it will become your own so don’t worry. I can’t teach or tell you how to do original stuff, but i can advise that does come the more you learn and the more you want to break from from doing basic poses.

I am seeing very little point in continuing to draw (tried for years, getting no where) when I can simply throw up a few prompt words and get something very rewarding. The tricky part is learning how to get the right words for things you want, like camera angles or certain body poses. You need to build up a glossary of terms.
Even drawthreads seem like a waste of time now request wise - why wait for a drawing that might never come, and then what if the art is really mid? Coulda just genned it, moreover there are so many Loras now even for obscure characters.
I can totally understand why there are so many AI generals on so many boards - because it gets the job done. There are 7 /sdg/ threads on /e/ right now, vs one drawthread that will last something like six months with hardly any artists in it, and when someone does come around, all I see is artwork that is mogged by AI.
I've had more fun genning and requesting in AI threads in the last few months.
I've also run some of my older drawings through AI to see what it could do with them, nothing short of amazement - it takes my base idea and turns it into a masterpiece. I do not feel ashamed that I was beaten by the machine. I will now embrace it.
All the power to the real artists who can put in the time, effort and practice on learning how to draw for reals - some of us simply don't have the time nor the right brain chemistry to make it work and commit to it as needed to become good.

It’s kind of hard desu. I usually post and go and talk very little.The only way I have made art friends was from a friend I made on a thread I was doing requests for (he’s so cool and I love him). Ironically, he himself doesn’t do art, but he is talented writer. He’s really good to bounce art ideas of. However, he is friends with many artists on and off the site.

Not at all, dude! You are on the right track. Usually, you start thick then use an eraser to thin out the insides and to sharpen any edges. If you'd like to keep it thick, you could play around with coloring the outlines of the hair.

I don't really know, and I don't even think my grasp on shapes feels particularly good— I struggle a lot with the hips/legs in particular. I briefly attended an art college a long while back and got about a semester's worth of live figure drawing classes, so my advice is to sign up for those if you can find them in your area.

for me I've discovered my stuff does best at a certain time, but its also about where your audience is. Like one of the fandoms has a shit ton of big artists who draw for it in southeast asia like the philippines and vietnam area, so I learned eventually what the best time was to catch them awake so they see it and RT it which does great for numbers

I have Pixiv Premium and it shows audience is most active from Sunday to Thursday while Fridays and Saturdays are quieter. So if you want dopamine from big numbers fast post Sunday to Thurday as people tend to go out on Friday and Saturday
