Sonic travels to the desert to watch a rally race, but after all the pilots are kidnapped by local warmongers, he goes off to explore nearby ruins, finding remnants of a civilization that worshiped a blue hedgehog god. He sets off something inside the temple, making it emerge from the sands and he accidentally also saves the pilots, who now continue their rally race on the recently-emerged mystical ruins.
