For a guy like Mullins to do it hes trying to sneak a base hit cause the fielders are playing back. Also keeps that bunt in their mind so maybe they play in a little more then usual which can cause a few grounders to sneak by gloves if hit close to the 3rd and 1st basemen. Could also be a matchup thing where the guy hes facing he sucks against so just trying to get on base.
Essentially hes trying to max out the only advanced metric that matters, TWTW (The Will To Win).
