Do consider getting/making something to do hip abductions or fire hydrants with weights instead of bands. It'll possibly be better than what you'd get at the gym for training the minimus and medius glutes (I'm going to make something myself to test it, in have an old sheet I've been cutting up and sewing for custom workout gear, but any fabric will do). I find focusing on stretching forwards when you're at the bottom of the rep, rather than bend over, helps more. You also don't need a bench, sitting on the wide if a bed or chair works too.

As for hip thrusts. Doing one leg at a time is the easiest way to make them a lot harder, but hou should consider getting a bench if you're not feeling it in the glutes

If you're getting more than 30 reps in 1 set, you definitely need something heavier

Losing weight and gaining muscle is possible, but typically only if you don't have much muscle

I was focusing on if it worked at all, so I wanted to take it consistently

Were they using 10ml of extract or 10ml at 10mg/ml? Because that's only 100mg which I'm probably getting similar strength to. I could still try a much stronger dose if it doesn't show changes after 2-3 weeks
