That is pretty cool, I hadn't thought they'd be able to do that before the internet really went mainstream and you could submit an email.
It probably wasn't the actual factory though, those were overseas. They probably just took it from another boxed figure they had in stock. Still a really cool story at any rate.
As a kid, I tried to write a letter to Kenner to ask them to make a dragon transformer complete with a drawing, and years later I thought TM2 Megatron was an answer to that letter. Even more years later I found the letter,turned out my sister never mailed it and what I thought was writing was just scribbles because I was like 4 or 5 and thought cursive was just making looped letters.
