>looks like crap (open MW solves this, and honestly I think it has its charms, but yeah it looks like a college student's attempt at a MMO from 2000)

Yet I feel like I'm literally living in this world. I come home to my tiny apartment in Vivec, from getting my butt whooped by orcs, realize I only needed to kill one of them, and only after I get cured of a disease I got off a random rat. Feels like I'm in this world, for as grimy and duplicitous as it is. Why is it so immersive? Never experienced this in another game.
