Not anon, but if my guess is correct, I think he's thinking of a posthumous publishing by Michael Davidson, which isn't really shotacore at all. More like NAMBLAcore, which one might think is the same thing but is actually very, very different. Don't know why he would recommend such a book in this thread lol

ignoring the pederasty comment, I guess you were only focusing on Classical Chinese literature? If we go to a little more modern works (although this book was still published in 1975), then I think that Dragonwings is an AMAZING suggestion, although you may relate to it more if you're an immigrant rather than white lol.

For Korean and Japanese works, "How do you Live" and "A Riot of Goldfish" by Genzaburō Yoshino and Okamoto Kanoko are great works featuring rather young male protagonists. Meanwhile the Stone Home (although very modern) features two teenaged aged boys (~15) forming a deep brotherly bond under abusive conditions in which they reside in

I'd definitely recommend Dragonwings though, probably a favourite of mine
