I have a question regarding secrets in the automap of GZDoom
why sometimes when I discover a secret area and the secret revealed message is played (lets say its a corridor that leads away from the room I was in into a new room containing whatever) and I open the automap it doesnt show anything?
I mean nothing past the room I was in before past the point of entering the secret sector
nothing shows no walls no nothing
yet for other secret sectors structured pretty much the same in the same or other map wads it does show properly the secret sector discovered in pink/magenta outlines?
I have the setting in options/automap to show secret sectors only when discovered yet why doesnt it behave the same with all of them?
is it a GZDoom setting, a feature (read "bug") or is it defined by the map wad/other mods I have installed?
Im the guy playing ZAERO1.WAD and out of 10 secrets I found only 7 and missed one because it was a one time elevator that I fell off from so technically 8
is there a way without cheating to be sure where secrets are?
I know that using the default custom automap colors in GZDoom the lines that you cross that are interactable (including the visible switches) are marked in white (like when you cross a line when going down a corridor a wall opens up somewhere which might be a secret or simply open up monster closets or something
the secrets where you need to shoot a wall texture with a hitscan weapon to do something is it possible to see them in the automap?
in short how the fuck do you get 100% secrets when playing blind?
I was watching last night the playthough of decino playing AUGER ZENITH and after he clears a map if he cant find all secrets after a while he presses something on his automap and he immediately sees them
how the fuck does he do it?
is it dependant on the source port he used?
I only ever used GZDoom since forever so idk about the others
